|
The conference regarding system of classification and labeling of chemicals took place on 11-12 March 2010 in Warsaw. As renowned supplier of goods labeling, we presented our offer for producers and distributors of chemical substances. Since 1 December 2010 every chemical substances put in the UE market are required to be marked and classified according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC, and amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, known as CLP Regulation.
It is a result of implementation of Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, so called GHS.
GHS system includes unified criteria of substances and chemical mixtures considering hazards both for health and environment. It also includes unified principles of informing of warnings bearing the requirements regarding marking and material safety data sheets.
As general principle, GHS regulation applies for every substances and mixtures which are delivered to UE. All producers, importers and distributors but also users should get to know the principles of new system of substances classification and marking – GHS. Without it producers would not be able to prepare appropriate warring sings of the products put in the market.
When it comes to application, GHS is much more difficult then UE former classification which additionally makes making process of MSDS and markings more complex. The conference allowed us to learn CLP regulation, which will facilitate cooperation with our clients when it comes to its application in the future. Participation allowed us also to get to know the new rules of classification, markings, packing of substances and mixtures and how to prepare for advisory when it comes to implementation at customer’s site of changes based on CLP regulation coming to force.
